Everything you could ever need

At Kingfishers we are able to offer a home away from home for our residents, while ensuring their care and personal needs are met too. A home is a place to feel cared for, loved and comfortable so that is what we strive for.

About Caroline Holdsworth…

I have worked as a nursing home manager for over ten years where I have enjoyed the challenge of overseeing both large and smaller homes.

As someone who had wanted to be a nurse from early childhood, I take great pleasure in being able to lead the way for change, respect and compassion for the older generation. I feel it is most important for us to remember we are working in their home and empower them to have a say in how their home feels, looks and how they would like to spend their days.

I look forward to building on the already well established good reputation Kingfisher has, and making it a home where everyone would want their loved ones to live. Our door is always open, pop in for a cup of tea at any time!

Caroline Holdsworth, Home Manager

Family-focused

Staying in touch with your loved one is reassuring for everyone. For them it provides continuity, love and companionship and, for you, peace of mind that your loved one is being well taken care of.

We know that visits can sometimes be emotional or difficult, so we ensure that you have the privacy and freedom to enjoy time together in a way that suits your family. That might mean one-to-one time in one of our quieter rooms, or your family member’s bedroom, or coming to one of our events so you can spend time together with the wider home community.

Kingfishers is a larger care home where we are able to look after up to 35 people at any one time. We welcome family and friends to our community, where we are able to provide one-to-one care and get to know our residents’ family members too.

Our staff

Our team is at the heart of everything we do here at Kingfishers Care Home. From our experienced and professional care manager, to our dedicated care workers, it is through their kindness and compassion we are able to provide such a high standard of care.

To help achieve this vision, our care team must understand our values, and be kind, compassionate and fun. From values-based recruitment, to ongoing support, development and training, we ensure our care team always feel valued and supported. This extends from our frontline care team, through to our activities coordinators and administrative team. We look after our team and strive to deliver quality care, building valued relationships.

Activities

At Kingfishers, we want our residents to be a part of their community, spending quality time with fellow residents and staff members.

We cater to all levels of physical and mental abilities so that everyone can make the most of everyday, but ultimately always having choice.

From gentle exercises and singalongs, to board games and books, our activities team blend their own skills with entertainers from our local community to provide a busy calendar of activities, where there is sure to be something for everyone.

Our beautiful, mobility-friendly garden and courtyard mean that residents can enjoy a peaceful walk in the sunshine or spend time with family and friends in pleasant surroundings.

Schedules and structure

Routine can make a huge difference to a person’s life, especially for those individuals who like structure. Our staff are always on hand to support residents, guiding them through their day in a kind and reassuring way.

We support our residents with as much or little support as they require at any one time, from washing and dressing, to providing medication and helping at meal times. Ensuring our residents are treated with dignity and respect is always our number one priority, no matter what level of care they might need.

Promoting independence is at the heart of the care we provide here, but we know that people’s needs change and so we change with them.

We host regular meetings at Kingfishers so residents can voice their opinions and provide us with feedback which means we can always provide the right level of care for them. Whether it’s simply contributing to the weekly menu or deciding where our next group outing will be, we want to hear from our residents as often as we can.
